Five years into racing, Max Taylor has built his life around the sport.
Max grew up in New York City and New Jersey. He doesn't home from a legacy racing family, and he started in karts and cars much later in his young life compared to his peers. With those odds stacked against him, Max learned the old fashioned way - asking questions, studying data, and understanding the why.
Five years later, that approach still defines Max. He is thoughtful in team debriefs, direct about mistakes, and uninterested in excuses. Max wants the facts, the reasoning, and to extract improvement with every adjustment. The same focus carries into the days between races where training, nutrition, sim work, and mental preparation shape his day to day schedule.
Most of Max's life today is spent traveling and competing, but around family and close friends, he's still the same grounded, easygoing kid from Jersey. Max recently relocated to Carmel, Indiana, to pursue racing full-time. When he's not at the track, he enjoys heading home to New Jersey or playing padel or anything competitive against the other drivers.

Family, coaching, training, and the stuff that keeps me sharp between race weekends.
My sister, mom, and dad being at every race is a huge reason why this lifestyle works. Their support during race weekends helps me remember what's really important, and all of my friends and extended family help me hit the reset button on my off-days.
Coaching USF and giving time back to the VRD team that raised and taught me has left me fulfilled and ultimately made me a better driver. I really like the competitive fire that all drivers have, no matter their age. Understanding the intricacies well enough to teach others makes my race craft sharper and motivates me to push myself harder.
Neck, core, cardio, and reaction drills are what my typical days at the gym look like, but sim sessions at home are essential for my training too. It takes a lot of power, dexterity, and precision to make split second decisions while driving, so keeping my body strong and my mind sharp is crucial.
Chess for patience, snowboarding for fun and adrenaline, and learning about history and current events because knowledge is power.

Max discovered motorsport through indoor karting. At first, it was simply something fun to do. But that changed quickly. He became obsessed with Formula 1 and INDYCAR and started learning how drivers moved from karting into professional racing.
In 2021, Max entered national championship karting and almost immediately began winning. Across the SKUSA Pro Tour, he collected race victories and national titles against more experienced drivers.
Those results made the next step possible. Max began racing with USF Juniors, earning a win and six top-five finishes in his first season.
And by 2025, he transitioned to INDY NXT by Firestone, the series he currently races for.

Andretti Global is one of the most accomplished and legacy-rich teams in INDY NXT by Firestone, the premier development series for the NTT INDYCAR Series. Entering the 2026 season, Andretti has claimed back-to-back championship titles after winning with current INDYCAR drivers Louis Foster in 2024 and Dennis Hauger in 2025.
With more than 100 victories, Andretti's record ranks among the strongest in series history.
The Andretti program helps prepare drivers for the transition into the NTT INDYCAR Series. Notable graduates include Pato O'Ward, Colton Herta, Kyle Kirkwood, Louis Foster, and Dennis Hauger, and noteable INDYCAR team statistics include 6 Indianapolis 500 victories and 4 INDYCAR Series championship titles.
Max is proud to be a part of this dynamic racing legacy.
